Deck cleaning and power washing — clean wood, not torn-up grain.
Mildew, algae, gray weathering and tree litter washed off wood and composite decks at low pressure, so the boards come back clean instead of fuzzy and splintered.

Low-pressure cleaning for wood and composite decks, and hot-water washing for pool decks and patios.
Wood is soft. Clean it that way.
Most of the deck damage we see wasn’t caused by weather. It was caused by a pressure washer. Redwood and cedar are soft woods, and a narrow tip held close tears up the surface fibers, leaving the boards fuzzy, splintered and quicker to soak up water and gray out again.
We clean decks at low pressure with a cleaner that does the work: it loosens mildew, algae and ground-in dirt so a gentle rinse carries it away. Composite decking gets the same approach. Its grooves hold mildew, and too much pressure can mark the surface.
On the Peninsula, decks under oaks and redwoods and on the foggy side of town grow mildew fastest. Cleaning once a year keeps the boards from staying damp and green, whether or not you stain them. Pool decks and patios get hot-water pressure washing — see driveway & patio cleaning.
Four services.
Obsessively executed.
Common deck calls: mildewed redwood decks, composite decks with green grooves, deck stairs, pool decks and patios — often with a house wash in the same visit.

Deck cleaning across the Peninsula.
Deck questions we actually get.
How much does deck cleaning cost?
Decks are priced by size, material, condition, and how many stairs and railings are involved. Send a couple of photos and we’ll come back with a free, itemized quote within 24 hours.
Will power washing damage my wood deck?
It can, which is why we don’t blast decks. High pressure tears soft woods like redwood and cedar and leaves the boards fuzzy. We use low pressure and a cleaner that loosens the dirt and mildew, then rinse.
Can you clean composite decking?
Yes. Composite boards collect mildew and dirt in the grooves and texture. We clean them at low pressure with a cleaner suited to composite, which gets the grooves clean without marking the surface.
Should I stain or seal my deck after cleaning?
If you plan to, cleaning comes first. The wood has to dry completely before any stain or sealer goes on — typically a day or two of dry weather, but follow the product’s label.
Do you clean pool decks and patios too?
Yes — exposed aggregate, concrete, travertine, brick and pavers, usually in the same visit. More on driveway & patio cleaning.
How often should a deck be cleaned?
Once a year for most Peninsula decks. Decks under oaks and redwoods, or on the foggy west side of San Mateo and Burlingame, may need it twice.
